Doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine – acquired from India's Serum Institute – have been sent to hospitals across the country to make the drive a success. Initially the urge to get vaccinated was not there among citizens as there were fears and concerns over the side effects. However, after consistent extensive campaigns from the government regarding the vaccination drive, people are now encouraged to get the vaccine jabs.

However the registration process of getting vaccinated is now a bit of concern for the government. This is because people are more interested in on-spot registration than on online or other forms of registration. But following a surge in on-spot registration in the healthcare facilities the government has decided to halt the process. This is because the vaccination process was getting delayed and the elderly were suffering. Now to reduce their sufferings, the government wants to resume the on-spot registration only for the elderly.

This is a welcoming  decision from

the government as it will ease the

troubles of the elderly to get  vaccinated

This is a welcoming decision from the government as it will ease the troubles of the elderly to get vaccinated. In rural areas the government can also arrange data centres at union and upazila level vaccination centres to be used as registration points for the people who are technologically challenged. By resuming the on-spot registration for the elderly, people will not be able to take advantage of the facility by creating problems for those who had signed up earlier, which ultimately led to a chaotic situation at the vaccination centres.

We understand that the vaccination drive will take some time to be smooth. However, because of these stern challenges that are associated with such a large scale drive, the government should plan ahead of time in every step of the way.
