Gold, drug of Tk77 cr seized from Benapole till Sept

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized gold, silver, US dollars and drugs worth about Tk 77 crore from various border areas of the township in the last nine months.

Lt Col Selim Reza, commanding officer of BGB 49 Battalion, provided the information to local journalists on Tuesday noon during a meeting to resist smuggling of drugs, arms, women and children.

The seized items in the last nine months include 12kg gold, 5kg silver, $365,000 (US), 61 lakh Rupee, Tk 53 lakh, viagra of 25,000, 700 yaba pills, 22000 bottles of phensedyl, 900 bottles of foreign liquor and 340kg hemp.

Cases were filed against 280 individuals under Narcotics Control Act.
