GE signs a multi-year maintenance contract with BPDB

GE Power signed a multi-year maintenance contract with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), to provide services and maintenance as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The five-year contract includes the procurement of spares and services from GE for the scheduled maintenance of the two GE 6F.03 gas turbine units installed at the 225 MW combined-cycle gas-based power plant in the Bhola district of Bangladesh.

The Bhola power plant was developed to address the shortage of reliable power in the island district and began operation in 2015. This new services contract will ensure enhanced availability and utilization of the assets, which generate the equivalent electricity needed to supply up to 270,000 homes in Bangladesh. Khaled Mahmood, Chairman, BPDB said, “To meet the increasing electricity demand in Bangladesh, we are adopting the latest technology to ensure that our power plants continue to generate reliable electricity throughout their life-cycle. Our vision is to supply uninterrupted quality power to all, and we need trusted partners like GE to help us realizing it.”
