Friends killed by slitting throat over motorcycle

In Rajshahi, a person’s throat was slit for a motorcycle by his drug addicted friends. Police have unveiled the mystery of the murder of college student Saif Islam Sunny a day after his murder. The mystery of Sunny’s murder has come out in the police investigation.

After the arrest, the accused gave this information during the preliminary interrogation.

The arrested are Shakib (24), son of Idol Ali of Baneshwar Thanderpara village in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi and Sagor (23), son of the late Khair.

On Sunday (August 9) at noon, Rajshahi Superintendent of Police Shahidullah said this at a press conference.

According to the accused, they called him from the shop and mixed sleeping pills with phencidyl and first anesthetized Sunny. He later confirmed his death by cutting the veins of his neck and arms and legs. Their purpose was to raise money for drugs by selling the motorcycle.

At the press conference, the Superintendent of Police informed the media about the incident of Sunny going missing and recovering the body of a college student at Charghat in Rajshahi and answered various questions about the murder.

After Sunny’s murder, his father Sirajul Islam filed a murder case against them. Later police investigation also found their involvement. Police then launched an operation to arrest the killers.

Shakib was first arrested on Saturday night. Sagor was later arrested on the information given by him. Police also recovered the victim’s motorcycle and keys.

In the case, Sunny’s father Sirajul Islam alleged that his son Saif Islam Sunny (23) was called from the shop on August 7 because he had an errand. Sunny took Shakib, who had come to call him on his red 100cc Hero motorcycle. Sunny had been missing ever since. The next day, on the morning of August 8, Sunny’s body was found strangled under a date tree on the slope of a paved road in Masjidpara village of Charghat police station. Sunny was a fourth-year student in the Department of Accounting at NS College in Natore. Later, Charghat police went and prepared an enquiry report on the body of the deceased. He was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The police superintendent said that after the arrest, the two were taken to the police station and interrogated overnight. At one point they confessed the murder to the police. According to their information, the motorcycle of the deceased was recovered from the garage of Akkas in Baneshwar Bazar of Puthia. Besides, the police got the key of the motorcycle from under the bed of Shakib’s house.

During interrogation, they said that they killed Sunny by calling him out of greed for the motorcycle. They wanted to raise money for drugs by selling the motorcycle. They first made him unconscious by mixing phencidyl with sleeping pills. He later cut his neck and arms and legs with a sharp knife to confirm his death. Later he took the motorcycle and left it in the garage and covered his body.

They were sent to jail on Sunday through the court.
