Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested four members of banned militant organisation Neo-JMB on Tuesday, said sources. “They all are member of banned terrorist outfit Neo-JMB,” said SK Imran Hossain, senior assistant commissioner of CTTC.

The arrestees were identified as Arif Mollah, 28; Md Iias Hossain, 28; Md Sabbir Ali alias Fuyad, 31; and Muntasim Billah alias Sabbir, 21. Imran said, “On information, a CTTC team conducted a raid at Ramna Star gate area in the city on Tuesday and arrested them, seizing jihadist publications and several mobile phones from their possessions.”

According to CTTC, in 2018, the arrestees captured a video at Sonjoypur village in Bogra district for broadcasting on Islamic State’s media outlet. “They made the video under the leadership of Rakibul Hasan alias Artighol who was arrested by CTTC during a raid in Narsingdi. After the arrest, his four accomplices went on hiding,” CTTC sources claimed.

“The detained JMB members were involved in posting publications on online platform,” they said, adding the arrestees were also recruiting new militants. A case under Anti-Terrorism Act has been filled against them with Ramna Police Station in this connection. CTTC produced them on Tuesday before a Dhaka Court seeking ten days remand for each. However, the court granted two day for each, said senior AC SK Imran.
