Four die after taking ‘excessive liquor’

At least four people died reportedly after taking ‘excessive local liquor’ at Shadho Pushkorni union of Rangpur Sadar upazila early on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Shahidar Rahman, 48, a meat seller of Paschim Keshabpur village, Abu Rayhan, 45, a tea vendor of Baniyapara village, Afsar Ali, 65, a night guard of Palichara Bazar, and Momdel Hossain, 62, a vegetable seller of Darshona Sutrapur village.

Vice-chairman of Sadar upazila parishad Masudar Rahman Milon said that three of them died at their homes after they fell ill taking excessive liquor.

Abu  Rayhan died on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said Sajedur  Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station. One more person who fell sick was admitted to the hospital, he said.
