Fisheries Ministry donates Tk 1.11cr to PM’s relief fund

The officials and employees of different departments and agencies under the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry donated Taka 1.11 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund in support to the government’s fight against the deadly coronavirus in the country.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim handed over a cheque for Taka 1.11 crore to Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Sunday evening, said a ministry press release on Monday.

Fisheries and Livestock secretary Rawnak Mahmud was present on the occasion, reports BSS.

Taking part in the cheque hand-over ceremony through a videoconference from her official residence Ganabhaban, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked the officials and employees concerned for providing the donation for fighting coronavirus.

Speaking on the occasion, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Rezaul Karim said they were proud to provide the donation to the PM’s Relief and Welfare Fund in the ongoing coronavirus crisis. 

“All should come forward in this crisis period of the nation. If we can work together, we would be able to cope with the global pandemic,” he added. The officials and employees of different departments and agencies under the ministry donated their salary of one day to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund.
