Bangladesh soccer fans have the opportunity of enjoying the experiences of a close-up view of the world’s most coveted sports trophy when the FIFA world Cup arrived here in Dhaka on Wednesday.
This time it is not a replica but made of 18 karat gold with bands of malachite on its base, glittering trophy of the FIFA World Cup 2022 has finally arrived in Bangladesh and the football enthusiasts have the privilege of enjoying a close-up view.
It is second time after 2013 that the souvenir of the FIFA World Cup football has been brought to Bangladesh that reached on Wednesday at 11 am.
The trophy arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal international Airport accompanied by FIFA delegates and one of the members of 1998 France World Cup winners’ team Christian Lali Kake Karembeu by a charted plane.
After the plane landing, Christian Karembeu, stepped out, carrying the trophy and Bangladesh's football icon, president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) along with the executives and sports personalities received the trophy at the airport and welcomed it to Bangladesh.
According to the earlier schedule the trophy was stored up at the Hotel Radisson Blue and then was taken to the President’s residence, the Bangabhaban at 4:00pm and at the residence of the Prime Minister, the Gonobhaban at 7: pm.
Bangladesh is one off 51 countries where the solid-gold FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour is taking to football fans around the world. It is an international roadshow to let the fans enjoy a rare close-up view of world football’s greatest prize.
The trophy will be displayed at two different venues at the Hotel Radisson Blue and for the general public at Army Stadium, where a concert is scheduled to be held this evening.
The trophy will leave Bangladesh for East Timor on Friday night.
