FIFA president to visit Dhaka on Wednesday

Gianni Infantino, the president of the FIFA, will arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday, October 16, at the invitation of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). The news was confirmed BFF yesterday. He is scheduled to leave Dhaka in the very next day. Therefore, it will be a one-day visit. FIFA president will also meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 17th of October and then will leave for Laos later that night.

On this regard, a press conference was organised by BFF at the BFF conference room yesterday. BFF informed four other top FIFA officials will visit Dhaka along with FIFA president on Wednesday. They are Mattias Grafstrom, Deputy Secretary General (FIFA), Onofre Costa, chief of communications, Sanjeevan Balasingam, director of member associations Asia and Oceania and Federico Raviglione, president’s office manager.

BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, vice-president Kazi Nabil Ahmed MP , general secretary Abu Nayem Sohag and other senior BFF officials were present during the press conference.   

Infantino, who is on a tour of Asia, will visit Bangladesh after completing his trip to Mongolia. For the fourth time, the president of the World Football Regulatory Agency is going to set foot in Bangladesh. Infanteo’s predecessor, Sepp Blatter, came to Dhaka twice in 2006 and 2012. And for the first time during the eighties, then FIFA president Joao Havelange came to Dhaka.
