FFs to get digital certificates, smart ID cards

The valiant freedom fighters (FFs) will be provided with digital certificates and digital smart identity (ID) cards. The Liberation War Affairs Ministry has invited tenders for making digital certificates and smart ID cards.

Advertisement has already been published in two national dailies inviting tenders. According to the notification, tenders will be sold in between April 25  and May 4.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque had released the final list of the FFs in the first phase at a press conference on March 25. The list contains the names of 1 lakh 47 thousand and 537 FFs.

The actual number of heroic FFs will not exceed 1 lakh 70 thousand, said the minister. The names of 1 lakh 82 thousand 834 FFs have been added to the Management Information System (MIS). Names of about 35,000 people have been excluded from the list as they did not have the approval of the National Freedom Fighters Council (Jatiyo Muktijoddha Council) in the civil gazette, he added.

Upazila reports are being received for regularization of these gazettes. The minister also said that the names of the valiant freedom fighters will be released by June 30 after the appeal hearing and verification.

The final list of the gazetted freedom fighters is supposed to be published by April 30.
