Sohag Miah, son of late Freedom Fighter Abul Hashem of Mahishmara village under Burichang upazila in Cumilla, was assaulted, beaten and attempted to murder recently.
A case has been filed against Sirajul Islam, 52, son of late Mozaffar Ali, Billal Hossain, 40, Farhad Ahmed, 45, Faruk Ahmed Mehedi, 30, son of Sirajul Islam and Parvez, 25 of Ichapura village of Burichang upazila.
According to the case detail, Sohag Miah's father-in-law Freedom Fighter Abdur Rashid was having a dispute with the attackers for some time. As a result, Sohag Mia was beaten by the attackers on June 10 at around 11 am.
In the early morning on July 30, the miscreants attacked Sohag Miah on the road in front of Gopal's grocery shop near Varasar Bazar in Gholanal Union of Burichang Upazila.
Hearing Sohag's screams, his father-in-law stepped forward and the terrorists beat him too. Later, locals rescued Sohag Mia and admitted him to Cumilla Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Burichang Police Station Mozammel Haque said a case has been filed with the police station in connection with the attack on the freedom fighter's family. The operation to arrest the accused is ongoing.
