Female officials play vital roles in seven govt offices

Seven women are now holding seven important posts of government offices at Ishwardi upazila in Pabna and they are performing their duties with merit and skill.

The female officials are Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer FA Asma Khan, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Momotaj Mohol, Senior Fisheries Officer Shakila Jahan, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Shahina Sultana, Election Officer Zinnat-ara-Jolly, Family Planning Officer Dilara Begum and Information Officer Chandra Biswas.

FA Asma Khan has contributed a lot to health sector and hospital management after joining Ishwardi upazila Health Complex in 2016. She got national award in health service after joining  the upazila health complex. 

Asma Khan said, ‘I did not do any work thinking myself as a woman. Rather men helped me more while I worked with them.’

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Momtaj Mohol joined Ishwardi in November last. She has been performing her duty on various land settlement sincerely. UNO of this upazila is cooperating with her. She said as a woman she did not face any problem. Deputy Commissioner of Pabna gave her honorarium crest for her skilled work.

Senior Fisheries Officer Shakila Jahan joined in Ishwardi in February 5 in 2018. She tried to increase fish production by holding meeting with fishermen and fish farmers in the upazila. Shakila Jahan said she had previous experience to work as a head of the department.

Upazila Women Affairs Officer Shahina Sultana has taken special responsibilities on self-employment, skill development and child marriage prevention after joining in Ishwardi. She has taken special initiative to stop child marriage. Shahina said she wants to work here as a human being.

People are gathered in election office after joining Zinnat-ara-Jolly there. She said, ‘I am glad to hear that a significant number of women are in the top position in Ishwardi.’

Upazila Family Planning officer Dilara Begum joined as the head of the department in Ishwardi on last year. After joining of Dilara Begum, the scenario of family planning work in Ishwardi has changed. Dilara says, ‘Not an officer I want to work as a servant for the public here.’

Chandra Biswas joined as head of the department of Upazila information centre last December. She has been performing her duty sincerely. She said she is feeling very well in doing work in Ishwardi.

UNO Ahammad Hossain Bhiyan said Ishwardi is an important upazila. The workable environment has established because of these top-level women’s contribution in the govt. office. 

This is a positive sign for Ishwardi upazila, he added.
