Fellowship offered for varsity students to combat Covid-19

Dhaka University-based SAVE Youth Bangladesh- in cooperation with International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the UKAID- is offering 32 Youth Promise Fellowships from among students of nine public universities in Bangladesh. 

The Youth Promise Fellowship aims at inspiring, informing and engaging youth as agents of change in the communities. The YP fellows will promote the message to counter COVID-19 related misinformation, rumour, hate-speech, and social stigma. 

This fellowship will provide per student with a grant of Taka 5,000 per month, initially for six months.  Aynul Islam, moderator of the SAVE Youth and Associate Professor of Political Science of Dhaka University termed the fellowship as ‘a timely initiative’. 

‘This fellowship will empower students’ voice and promote counter-message against COVID 19 related social stigma, rumour, and hate speech.’ 

The 32 students who received the fellowship are from Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barishal University, Islamic University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University and Jagannath University.
