Bangladeshi students, who are doing online courses at various foreign universities due to Covid-19, are allowed to pay tuition fees for the next two semesters through bank transfer from Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Bank has given permission for such payment for two semesters/sessions till 31 March, said the central bank in a circular on April 13.
The initiative was appreciated by parents of students.
The facility would be available for the next two semesters/sessions till September 30, 2021, said the circular issued by the BB's Foreign Exchange Policy Department on Monday last.
Earlier in August 2020, the Bangladesh Bank permitted this payment for two semesters/sessions till March 31.
An official of the central bank seeking anonymity said many students had secured admission to foreign institutions but could not move abroad due to the pandemic.
"The facility would help them continue their studies online," he said.
Mamota begam, mother of Saleah Ahmed, who is overseas student of UK, said I feel free to hear the news. It's a good news for every parents who are in tension for their children's study amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
