A farm labourer was beaten to death by an angry mob on allegations of stealing at Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka district. The incident took place at Parashura area of Sholla Union at the upazila on Friday noon.
The deceased was identified as Prashant Roy, 40, son of Paresh Roy of Satghataupazila in Gaibandha district. He is a farm labourer by profession.
Locals said that Prashant came to the area a few months ago. Since then he had been working as a farm labourer at the area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nawabganj Police Station Mozammel Hossain said, “Prashant was beaten to death on suspicion of stealing on Friday night. The body of the deceased has been recovered and sent to a local hospital for autopsy.”
