Faridur Reza Sagar gets special award in India

Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of and Impress Telefilm Ltd renowned child litterateur, received the special honor from India’s ‘Hyderabad Bangla Film Festival’ as recognition for his contribution in children’s literature and Bengali films. This award was given to Prasad Lab Theater, Banjara Hill, Hyderabad on Friday afternoon.

‘Hyderabad Bangla Bangla Film Festival’ started for the sixth time from Thursday (July 18th) in Hyderabad and will run until July 25. People from different countries gathered to participate in the festival.

Festival organizer Partho Pratim Mallik said that this time three renowned personalities of the film scene from the subcontinent will be given special honor. And according to that, Faridur Reza Sagar, the legendary maker Buddhadeb Das Gupta and India’s Southern Superstar Nagarjun were given special awards on the second day of the festival.

In 1919, the journey of Bengali movie started by Hiralal Sen. That means this year is the birth centenary of Bengali films. Partho Pratim Mallik, director of ‘Hyderabad Film Festival’, said that on the occasion of the anniversary of Bangla film, this year, Bengali film festival will feature 13 full Bengali films in ‘Bengali Panorama’.

Among these will be the world premiere of Subrat Sen’s ‘Manav Mani’ and Indranil Ghosh’s film ‘Shironam’. Also, the festival of Hyderabad will be honoring the celebration of Bangla film’s 100th anniversary. Films by Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, Mrinal Sen, Tapan Sinha, Goutam Ghosh and Rituparna Ghosh will also be screened.

Festival director also said, “Sharing of culture through film is our main goal”. Though Bengali films have been the focus this year, Telugu, Kashmiri, Urdu and Hindi language films have also been called for submission.

Bangladesh’s first omnibus film, ‘Eti Tomari Dhaka’, by Impress Telefilm Ltd has also been invited for screening at the festival.
