Allegation of massive bribery, corruption and irregularities in teacher recruitment has been found against the founder of Doiboggogati DK Technical School and BM College in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj.

A written complaint has been submitted to the Education Ministry and other concerned departments seeking cancellation of its MPO.

Sources said, Shahidul Islam, Headmaster of Doiboggogati High School has established various educational institutions including Doiboggogati DK Technical School and BM College in the same location.

Then, he misappropriated huge amount of money in the name of teachers and employees recruitments. He collected Tk 15 to Tk 25 lakh from each candidate as donation in the first phase after holding fake recruitment examinations and providing fake appointment letters.

Thus he misappropriated crores of Taka and established mountain of illegal wealth. He has built several multistoried buildings at different places including Sirajganj town and his own village. He has also become owner of huge properties overnight by amassing money in illegal way.

He got MPO facility for DK Technical School and BM College in the last phase of MPO enlistment by submitting fake teacher lists and other relevant papers to the concerned authorities.

Locals said, Shahidul has turned education into a family business. Though, he is the headmaster of the high school section, he made his wife the head teacher of the primary section in the same school. He established Daiboggogati DK Technical School and BM College without any building or installation. Showing the previous school buildings as BM College building, he took admission of a good number of students for the Technical and BM college branch. Thus, he has swindled with the students, local guardians and the authorities concerned of the government.

He has technically made his son-in-law Jahangir Alam as principal of the DK Technical School and BM  College violating the rules and regulations. Though, at least eight years experience is needed to become a principal, Jahangir got appointment in the post without obtaining experience by producing several forged papers.

Apart from that, being an influential in the area, he has taken bribe of Tk 15 to Tk 25 lakh from each by providing fake appointment letter to several candidates in different subjects including Bengali, English, business management and economics.

In fact, he collected several crores of Taka from over half a hundred applicants after forming fake recruitment board and arranging fake recruitment examinations without any approval of the concerned authorities.

Although, there is a rule of appointment through NTRC, Shahidul makes these appointments with backdate and takes crores of Taka from the applicants promising to provide jobs. He had been carrying out such illicit deeds managing former MP late Ishak Hossain Talukder. After his death, he carried such misdeeds with the help of next MP Amzad Hossain Milon in exchange of big sum of bribe. Now, he is trying to convince the incumbent MP Dr Abdul Aziz to carry on his illicit deeds.

According to the sources, the government has recently provided MPO to 2,770 educational institutions. Doiboggogati DK Technical and BM College is one of them. After getting the MPO, Shahidul demanded big sum of bribe from the previously recruited lecturers and employees, who earlier paid Tk 15 lakh to Tk 25 lakh. Now, they are being forced to pay additional Tk 35 to 40 lakh.

Seeking anonymity, a victim said, “I paid Shahidul Tk 20 lakh for a lecturer post, selling my father’s land in 2015. After getting MPO enlistment, Shahidul is now demanding Tk 15 lakh more. As I refused to pay that, he told me that my recruitment was false and he gave me false appointment letter. So, I have no job at the college now. While, I demanded the 15 lakh, I paid, he gave me death threats. Now, I am helpless”.

Locals said, some Rezaul Karim, resident of Sherpur upazila in Bogura is his close associate to carry all misdeeds including lobbing at Education Ministry and other relevant departments.

Locals urged interference of the authorities concerned including Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) regarding the matter. They also demanded cancellation of MPO of the Doiboggogati DK Technical School and BM College and ensure exemplary punishment to the culprit.

While contacted, SM Mahabubur Rahman, Joint Secretary of Technical and Madrasha Education Division said, “We have come to know about all his illicit deeds. Stern action including cancellation of MPO would be taken after completion of investigation”.
