Ex-MP Rana gets bail in Jubo League leaders murder case

The High Court on Wednesday granted bail to former lawmaker of Tangail-3 Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in a case lodged over the killing of two Jubo League leaders. A High Court division bench comprising Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman passed the order, declaring a rule issued earlier in this regard, absolute, reports BSS.

The High Court on March 6 had allowed Rana bail for six months in the case. Following an appeal filed by the state, Justice Md Nuruzzaman of Appellate Division Chamber Judge Court on March 14, had stayed that High Court order. The Appellate Division on April 23 upheld that order and extended the stay till the disposal of the rule.

Jubo League leaders Shamim and Mamun went missing on July 16, 2012, after coming to Tangail town. Mamun’s father on July 9, 2013, filed a murder case with Tangail court over the incident. Three persons Khandaker Zahid, Shahadat Hossain and Hiron Miah, who were arrested by law enforcers on different occasion in connection of the case, confessed their involvement in that incident. Later, Rana too were shown arrested in the case following the confession made by those three.
