Ex-MP Mohammad Ali passes away

Former MP from Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhia-Teknaf) constituency and president of Awami League’s Teknaf upzila unit Prof Mohammadf Ali died in Cox’s Bazar on early Friday. 

He was 76. Ali, who was a freedom fighter, fell sick at his home in Hilla village on Thursday night. He was taken to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead around at 4am on Friday. Rashed Mohammad Ali, son of the deceased and also chairman of Nhilla union, confirmed the matter tol Bangladesh Post.

The namaz-e-janaza of Ali was held on the Dargah C&B playground in Hilla village on Friday afternoon. Later, he was laid to eternal rest at the family graveyard buried. 

Ali, who was elected as MP in 1996, left behind three sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death. Local lawmakers, zila parishad chairman, district administrator, superintendent of police, leaders of Awami League, BNP, Jatiya Party and journalist union expressed condolence over the demise of Ali.
