Ex-DUCSU VP Nur, 5 others face fresh case

A female student of Dhaka University lodged another case against former vice president (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur and his five associates bringing three more allegations.

Saiful Alam Muzahid, assistant commissioner of Kotwali Zone, confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Post.

He said, “The case was filed with Kotwali police station on Monday afternoon on allegations of abduction, rape and online harassment using digital platforms.”

Earlier on Sunday night, the same student, who is studying at the Islamic Studies department of Dhaka University, filed a rape case with Lalbagh Police Station against Nur and five others.

Five other accused of the case are identified as Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Convener Hassan Al Mamun, 28, Joint Conveners Nazmul Hassan Shohag, 28, and Md Saiful Islam, 28, Vice-President Md Nazmul Huda, 25, and a student of Dhaka University named Md Abdullah Hill Baki, 23. 

Hasan Al Mamun is the main accused, and Nur helped him along with the others, the case statement reads.

Biplob Bijoy Talukder, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Lalbagh division said, “We are investigating the case.” 

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal said, “Police are investigating the cases against Nur. We shall take necessary steps against the accused.”
