Energy sector implements over 104pc ADP, power div 97pc

Energy and Mineral Resources Division implemented 104.27 percent and Power Division implemented 97.74 percent of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) last year. 

The information was disclosed on Wednesday at the implementation progress review meeting of the development projects of the power department from July 2020 to June 2021. At the virtual meeting, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said effective steps need to be taken for speedy implementation by adopting customer service-rich projects. The project should be taken up by coordinating the generation, transmission and distribution system. According to the roadmap, there is a need to increase supervision in project implementation.

He said that considering the situation, the progress of implementation of development projects of Power Division and Energy and Mineral Resources Division is satisfactory. In order to implement the project in May, the project stakeholders need to work sincerely to implement this road map. In order to implement 100 percent of RADP allocation in the implementation of ADP, all the project managers including the head of the agency have to make strong efforts.

In the Power Division, the RADP for the financial year 2020-21 was taka 24768.22 crore (taka 10800.18 crore in GoB, taka 12959.99 crore in PA sector and taka 1008.05 crore in own funds). Expenditure as determined by the Finance Division was taka 9645.17 crore in GoB, taka 12959.99 crore in PA sector and taka 1008.05 crore in own funds i.e. a total of taka 23613.21 crore. However the expenditure up to June 2021 was taka 9493.04 crore in GoB, taka 12772.45 crore in PA sector and taka 814.14 crore in own financing i.e. a total of taka 23079.60 crore. 

According to the RADP allocation, the financial progress is 97.84%. The power divsion is implementing a total of 97 projects in 2020-21 fiscal year. 

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division has implemented a total of 30 projects. Of these eight with GoB and foreign aid, 16 with its own funds and 6 with GDF (Gas Development Fund) in the FY 2020-21. A total of Tk 3,084.73 crore has been spent and the financial progress is 104.27%. Besides, 11 more projects have been approved since the RADP approval. 

Among others Power Secretary Md. Habibur Rahman, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) Chairman Moin Uddin, Power Cell Director General Engineer Mohammad Hossain were also spoke the virtual event.
