Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, also the Minister for Road, Transport and Bridges Affairs, on Saturday said that the implementation of the party’s electoral manifesto before the next election is the main challenge of the government.

He came up with the remarks while speaking at a press briefing immediately after the conclusion of the party’s 21st national council where he has been reelected as the general secretary for the second time. The briefing was held in the afternoon at the political office of the party president in capital’s Dhanmondi-3.

“Turning every village into a town and ensuring job for at least one person from each family were among our electoral pledges. Electoral manifestos are our promises to the people of the country and implementation of these promises is our main challenge before the next election”, said Obaidul Quader.

Obaidul Quader also said that AL will work for the establishment of stronger democracy. “We never underestimate our opponents. We want to make democracy stronger and that is why we are sympathized to the opposition parties.”

In this regard he mentioned that the AL did not make any counter attack even after the party’s office in Dhanmondi had come under attack.

At the briefing, the second time general secretary said that perfect implementation of the Mujib Borsho from March 17 and the golden jubilee of the independence are the main focuses of the party at the moment. Besides, the implementation of the Vission-2021 is another focal point.

He mentioned that the 21st council was most disciplined and historic and trouble free as well. He said, “Many tasks are yet to be completed. We have to complete all the tasks.”
