An elderly man was killed in a road accident in Chowmuhani Chowrasta Mor area under Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Siddique Uliah, 68, son of late Saidul Haque, resident of Madhya Nazirpur village of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, a truck hit the man coming from the opposite direction when he was crossing the road in the area around 1.30pm. He died on the spot, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraganj Highway Police Station Mofiz Uddin Bhuiyan, said.
Police seized the truck, but its driver and assistant managed to escape, he added.
A case was filed in this connection.
