Netrokona district administration has designed elaborate programmes in line with the national programme to observe the Amar Ekushey February and International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner.
District administration sources said the programme has been unanimously approved at a 'joint meeting' of district level officers, political parties, public representatives and leaders of different socio-cultural organizations and juvenile clubs and heads of different educational institutions held at the conference room of Netrokona DC office in Netrokona town on Wednesday.
Chaired by deputy commissioner (DC) and district magistrate, Netrokona Anjana Khan Mojlish, the meeting was, addressed, among others, by mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, chairman of Netrakona Sadar upazila Ataur Rahman Khan Manik, additional police super Netrakona Faqruzzaman Juwel and general secretary of Netrakona press club Muklesur Rahman Khan and journalist Alpana Begum. The day's programme will formally begin by placing floral wreaths at Netrokona central Shaheed minar at one minute past zero hours by the deputy commissioner of Netrokona.
As part of the programme, the national flag will be hoisted at half mast atop all the public and private buildings across the district at dawn.
Competition on hand writing, art, and poetry recitation for school children and cultural function will be held at Netrokona Shishu academy in the morning.
Main roads of the district town will be decorated with miniature national flag and festoons inscribed with Bangla Alphabets.
Netrakona district information office will arrange screening of documentary film show on 'language movement' at Netrakona central Shaheed minar premises in the afternoon.
Netrakona district administration will organize a discussion meeting on "Bangabandhu and language movement" at Netrakona central Shaheed minar in the evening.
Special prayers will be offered at Netrakona central Jam-e-mosque, other mosques, temples, churches and other places of worships across the district seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of the departed souls of the language movement martyrs under the auspices of Islamic Foundation Netrakona.
