Ek Je Chilo Raja receives National Film Award

Jaya Ahsan starrer ‘Ek Je Chilo Raja’ has been selected for India's 66th National Film Award. The film is directed by Srijit Mukherji. This is for the second time that a film starring Jaya Ahsan has been nominated for the National Film Award. Earlier, ‘Bishorjon’ directed by Kaushik Ganguly won the National Film Award of India.

Jaya Ahsan was overwhelmingly happy to receive the National Film Award for an Indian film from Kolkata where she acted in. In response to the award, she said, “The context of ‘Ek Je Chilo Raja’ is the Bhawal region of Bangladesh. Not only the acting, I was also involved in the work of bringing Bhawal's style of local Bengali accent to the film as part of a research team. Earlier, my film ‘BIshorjon’ also received the National Film Award. Coincidentally the context of the two pictures is Bangladesh, it has doubled my happiness.”

On the other hand, Srijit Mukherji said in the context of the National Award, “Films from Bengal has again received the National Film Award. This is good for Bengali cinemas. I am the director of the film which received the National Film Award. I get happy just thinking about this. Thanks to everyone involved with this film. This award will inspire people to do better.”

The film ‘Ek Je Chilo Raja’ was created in the Bhawal area of Joydebpur, Bangladesh. In it, Jishu Sengupta plays the character of Bhawal king. Jaya Ahsan plays the role of his sister.
