ECNEC approves 7 projects worth Tk 9,241.25 crore

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved seven development projects worth Tk 9,241.25 crore. The approval came at the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room in the city’s Agargoan area with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Following the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan said that a total of five projects have been approved involving an overall estimated cost of Tk 9,241.25 crore. “Of the amount, Tk 4315 crore will come from the government exchequer and Tk 4,926.24 crore will come from foreign assistance,” he added.

ECNEC has also revised and approved a project for expanding Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The main cost of the project was Tk 13, 610 crore. Now the expenditure has been increased to Tk 7, 788.59 crore. In total the project will cost Tk 21, 399 crore. ECNEC has also embarked on a project to set up a chancery complex at Islamabad in Pakistan in a bid to facilitate the operations of the Bangladesh mission with an estimated cost of Tk 79.87 crore.

Also ECNEC has approved proposals for widening highways from Keraniganj to Munshiganj worth Tk 409 crore, upgrading 4-Lane highways from Jhenaidah to Dashuria worth Tk 574 crore, developing Nagesshori to Kulaghat in Lalmonirhat highways worth Tk 99.35 crore and developing and expanding Fotekharkul-Moriccha highways of Ramu in Cox’sBazar worth Tk 266.17 crore and three college infrastructure development project at Dahak Madaripur and Rangpur districts worth Tk 88.58 crore,
