As part of the intensified security, the Election Commission has decided to monitor all the voting centres with Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras on the voting day in both the city corporations’ polls of the capital on February 1.

The commission issued a circular, signed by EC system manager Mohammad Ashraf Hossain, in this regard on Tuesday.

According to the circular, the polling centres will also remain under the CCTV coverage on mock voting day (January 30) and before election day (January 31) of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

However, the secret room at voting booth will not be under CCTV surveillance on the voting day, it said.

The commission asked the returning officers of DNCC and DSCC to take all necessary steps to use CCTV cameras in every voting centre on the three days.
