Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman expressed profound shock at the death of president of Bangladesh Sangharaja Bhikkhu Mahasabha Satyapriya Mahathero, reports BSS.
In a condolence message, the DU VC said Satyapriya Mahathero worked for the welfare of the people throughout his life.
He gave shelter to freedom fighters and people irrespective of caste and creed in Ramu Central Shima Bihar during the War of Liberation in 1971.
Akhtaruzzaman prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family. Satyapriya Mahathero, principal of the Buddhists Temple in Ramu passed away at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Friday at the age of 89.
He got Ekushey Padak in 2015 for his outstanding contribution to social service.
