Dhaka University on Wednesday introduced ‘Prof. Sekander Hayat Khan Gold Medal’ by establishing a new trust fund at the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT) of the university.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over this ceremony, reads a press release.
Retired Professor of ISRT Dr. M Sekander Hayat Khan handed over a cheque for Tk. 12 lac to DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to introduce this gold medal.
Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Samad, Director of ISRT Prof. Dr. Tamanna Hawlader, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, some faculty members and donor’s family members were present on this occasion. Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in MS examination from the Institute of Statistical Research and Training will be given ‘Prof. Sekander Hayat Khan Gold Medal’.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donor for his donation and hoped that the students of ISRT would be inspired by this initiative.
