Drug dealer killed in Satkhira shootout

A drug dealer named Liaquat Ali was killed in a 'shootout' between two drug trafficking groups in Satkhira.

The shooting took place in the early hours of Thursday (July 30) at Koyarbil in Bashdoha union of Satkhira Sadar.

The deceased was identified as Moslem Ali Sardar of Toluigachha village under Liaquat Sadar upazila.

Liaquat Ali is a top drug dealer, police said. He was killed in a shootout between two groups over drug money in the Koyarbil area.

Satkhira Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Mirza Salauddin told the media that a team of police led by Sadar Police Station OC Asaduzzaman raided the Koyarbil area in the early hours of the morning on the basis of reports of gunfire between the two sides.

Arriving at the scene, the police saw a man lying in a wounded condition. A revolver, two rounds of ammunition, a machete, 50 bottles of Fencidil and 200 pieces of yaba were found beside him. Police immediately rushed the victim to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

He said there are 10 cases against Liaquat in Sadar police station under the Narcotics Act. The body has been sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
