The local administration has decided to begin a drive to free rivers and canals from encroachers in Chandpur district on December 23.
The decision was taken at a view-exchange meeting held at conference room of Deputy Commissioner’s office in Chandpur on Thursday.
Secretary to the Water Resources Ministry Kabir Bin Anwar took part in the meeting through video conferencing. He said the boundary of the assets under the ministry will be demarcated as per the Bangladesh Water Policy-2018.
He asked the deputy commissioner to inform the media people ahead of the evection drive and if anyone is found obstructing the drive then it will be captured in the video. Deputy Commissioner Majedur Rahman Khan said that the local administration and Water Development Board will conduct the eviction drive and notices will be served to the illegal occupiers to free the land within November 10.
