Dr Razzaque urges for adulteration-free Bangladesh

Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque has urged people to create such a stringent environment in the society that no one dare to adulterate food in Bangladesh. The minister made the urge at a roundtable discussion at the National Press Club on 'Safe Food and Agriculture Management' on Tuesday.

He said that such a situation has to be shaped in the society so that no one can adulterate or produce sub-standard food in Bangladesh. “I will urge the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and the stakeholders, to form a task force to oversee and check food adulteration,” said Abdur Razzaque. The minister further said that safe food authorities and ministries concerned will have to take effective measures to ensure safe food for people.

As the government is going hard against drugs, steps must be taken to ensure safe food throughout the country, the minister added Professor Khurshid Jahan of Dhaka University said, "We need to be aware of the foods we are eating. At the same time, scientists and chemists are responsible for producing safe food.” Professor Dr Azizul Islam Bhuiyan of Dhaka University presented the keynote paper at the discussion. Sayeeda Sarwar Jahan, chairman of the Safe Food Authority, spoke as the special guest.
