Ensuring that the government has taken all out preparation for facing Fani, the strongest storm in two decades, Awami League Joint Secretary General Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif on Friday urged the countrymen not to get panicked over the cyclone. He came up with the assurance emerging out of an emergency meeting of AL secretaries at party president’s Dhanmondhi political office in the capital.

He said, “Nothing to be worried and anxious.” The speed of the cyclonic storm has already been decreased by 50 kmph after landing on Indian coastal area of Puri in Odisha,” he said adding the speed would reduce more when it would hit Bangladeshi coastal area crossing 400/500 km more distance.
Advised everyone to remain tension-free, Hanif said, “The government has taken all out preparation for facing Fani.”

The ruling party held the emergency meeting to chalk out the duties of the party activists and leaders after the cyclone hits the country. Hanif said, “According to information received from the weather forecast office of the country, Fani has hit Indian state of Odisha this (Friday) morning. When it will hit the coastal area of the country, the speed of the wind of the cyclonic storm will be reduced significantly.”

We have only one request to the countrymen living in coastal areas, ‘shift to safer place before the cyclone hits’, he added. Rejecting the claim of BNP that government did not take any preparation, the ruling party senior leader said, “We have taken adequate preparation from the side of the government as well as on behalf our party. But what BNP has done regrading this type of preparation?” He urged BNP to stop politics during the danger time of the people.
