The World No Tobacco Day-2023 will be observed tomorrow (May 31) in the country as elsewhere in the world, intending to raise awareness of the harmful effects of tobacco on health, environment, economy and society
This year’s theme for the day is “We need food, not tobacco”.
To mark the day, various anti-tobacco platforms and many other organisations have chalked out different programmes.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has decided to observe the day amid various programmes. On the occasion, the DNCC will bring out a colourful procession in the city on Wednesday (May 31).
Md. Atiqul Islam, mayor of the city corporation, will lead the procession which will be brought out at 11:30 am from in front of Nagar Bhaban at Gulshan in the capital.
Later, a discussion will be held at the conference room of DNCC at Nagar Bhaban.
The DNCC Mayor will attend the discussion as the chief guest.
Brig General Md Zobaidur Rahman, chief health officer of DNCC; said Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance (BATA) and many other anti-tobacco organisations will take part in the DNCC’s World No Tobacco Day programme. He requested all to join the programme.
