DNCC’s eviction drive continues

1,500 illegal infrastructure demolished

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has continued its special eviction drives in different areas under its jurisdiction to free the roadsides and footpaths from encroachers. DNCC authorities on Monday conducted eviction drive in city’s Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Uttora, Khilkhet and Mirpur area. During the drive, DNCC authorities demolished more than 1,500 illegal infrastructures occupying roadsides and footpaths.

At 11:00 am, a DNCC mobile court led by executive magistrate Md Sajid Anwar conducted the drive at Karwan Bazar and Farmgate area.The DNCC team evicted more than 300 illegal establishments from wholesale fish market, rice market and both sides of rail line at Karwan Bazar. Besides, the team led by Sajid also evicted some 500 illegal infrastructures to free the roads and footpaths from illegal encroachment from Farmgate to Indira road.

Other team led by DNCC executive magistrate SM Sahfiul Azam evited some 87 illegal establishments from different roads of Block-A, section 6, in Mirpur. The team also fined Tk 2,20,000 in two cases for keeping construction materials on the road and footpath. Besides, two executive magistrates Md Abdul Hamid Mia and Zulkar Nayon conducted drive at Sector 9 and 10 of Uttara and khilkhet area.

They evicted some 650 illegal establishments from roads and pavements of Sector 9 and 10 of Uttara and Khilkhet kitchen market. The team also collected Tk 1,48,000 through fining by seven different cases for not having trade license, keeping ambulance on the footpath and keeping construction materials on the road. The drive against illegal encroachers will continue, the magistrates said.
