DMP files 4,617 cases over traffic violations

The traffic division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total 4,617 cases over traffic violations in the capital yesterday, reports BSS.

“Police realized Tk 22, 40,800 as fine from the traffic offenders. Police also sent 26 vehicles to dumping and 513 more to wrecking,” a DMP press release said on Monday.

The DMP sources further said cases were filed against 698 vehicles for going into wrong way, 53 vehicles for using hydraulic horns, four for using hooters and beacon light and eight vehicles were booked for using black glasses on windows.

“Cases were also filed against 1,674 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 92 more were seized. 10 drivers were also booked for talking on mobile phones while driving,” the release added.
