Dhaka’s waste to generate 36 MW power per day

“36 mega watt power could be generated per day through processing waste of Dhaka's city corporation, which will take around 18 months to start generating power by burning wastes,” said LGRD Minister Md. Tajul Islam.

He said this after visiting the sanitary landfil of Dhaka city corporation at Aminbazar area in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, on Saturday.

Tajul Islam said, “The government has taken several steps to prevent environment pollution, as well as LGRD ministry has also take many steps to resolve waterlogging in the capital. Our Government works day-night for the development of the country.”

He also said, "The recent floods had caused extensive damage to rural infrastructure across the country. To make up the loss, ECNEC will pass a project and allocate funds across the country."

Earlier, the minister visited a project work at Gabtoli area in the capital. Atiqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka North city Corporation, M Saidur Rahman, Chief Waste Management Manager, Brigadier General Amirul Islam, Chief Engineer were present during the visit among others.
