DESCO opens two grid substations

Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) has opened Aftabnagar 132/33/11 KV and Purbachal 132/33/11 KV grid substations at Aftabnagor in the capital, which will ensure smooth power supply to Badda, Baridhara, Gulshan, Purbachal new town and its adjacent areas.  

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid inaugurated those two grid substations at Aftabnagar on Saturday.

Nasrul Hamid said, “We want to modernise the power sector of the country. The number of users of electricity are increasing day by day. We want to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply with best service to the users.”

The state minister urges to the distribution companies to construct underground electric lines in the city. Besides, he instructed to reduce system loss. 

Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus and BPDB Chairman Engineer Khaled Mahmood were present as special guests, while Additional Secretary Maksuda Khatun presided the inaugural ceremony.

Officials said both the grid substations were constructed with DESCO finance with geographic information system (GIS) technology of HYOSUNG Heavy Industries Corporation, Korea.

Aftabnagar 132/33/11 KV grid substation was commissioned on test basis on June 24, 2019.
