Demand for oxygen cylinder skyrockets

The number of cases and deaths due to coronavirus infections is increasing recklessly in the country. People hardly can manage ICU beds in different hospitals across the country as there is a huge pressure of critical Covid-19 patients. 

Meanwhile, the demand for oxygen cylinders has increased at an alarming rate due to the infection caused by respiratory problems. The hospital authorities are having a hard time because of the pressure of extra patients in the hospitals.

Due to the new variants of Covid-19 spread, patients’ number is going beyond imagination, while many patients’ relatives are even bringing oxygen cylinder from outside feeling the emergency. 

Considering the shortfall of oxygen cylinder, many individuals or organizations have started oxygen cylinders business to provide emergency oxygen services to the infected people.

An emergency oxygen cylinder is being delivered to the certain patients’ address by the service providers. They are giving the service with motorcycles as soon as a phone call is made.

While visiting different hospitals across the capital, this correspondent found that, several hospitals are refusing to take new patients. The hospital authorities said that they are already overloaded with Covid-19 patients.  Even they are struggling to provide oxygen cylinders to the existing patients.

According to the Department of Health, there is a crisis of coronavirus resistant equipment sent all parts of the country, including the capital. Injections of RMDCV, RTPCR kits, PPE, masks, high flow nasal cannulas, oxygen concentrator, ICU beds with monitors, ventilators and oxygen cylinders, especially for the treatment of Covid-19 patients are falling short.
