DB unearths fake Covid test gang, arrests 3

Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested three members of a fraudulence group in connection with unauthorized antigen COVID-19 test.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Deputy Commissioner of DB (Gulshan Division) confirmed it on Wednesday.

The fraud gang set up a fake company titled TKS Healthcare Service, claiming as the sister concerned of TKS Group.

They also submitted an application to the Health Ministry. In their application, they claimed that they will conduct free COVID-19 tests across the country. They also claimed that their 5,126 frontline staffs are ready to make the free COVID-19 test programme a success.

As they know that the health ministry would not give approval after investigating, they forged a fake permission letter.

They make a fake approval letter of the health ministry. Using the fake approval letter, they set up booths and were providing home service regarding COVID-19 tests.  Getting secret information, a team of Gulshan Division of DB raided in Jhalkhati district and Tejgaon area in the capital.

During the drive, we arrested Abdullah Al Amim, Chairman  Abul Hasan Tushar, Managing Director and Mohammad Shahin Miah, Marketing Manager of the fraud gang on Tuesday night.

DC Moshiur Rahman told this correspondent that Abdullah Al Amin and Abul Hasan Tushar were working as the masterminds.

Al Amin once worked as marketing manager of Care Givers Institute Bangladesh while Abul Hossain Tushar worked as relationship manager of Al Falah Islami  Bank. Using their such experiences, they were running the fraud firm.

They invested only Tk 25,000 for the fake company. Later they were trying to earn Tk 2 lakh in the name of providing a single dealership.

They were also trying to collect huge amount of money in the name of recruiting staffs from Upazila and district level, the chief of DB Gulshan said.

A case was filed in this connection.
