DAP fertiliser factory begins its production after 3 yrs

The production of Dai Ammonia Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer factory began from Monday night after closure of three years, reports BSS. The factory was declared closed on August 16, 2016 following a tank explosion. The DAP factory remained closed for about three years two months lack of re-installation of new tank.

Considering high cost to install new tank, the factory remained shut after the explosion. Following the advises of Bangladesh University of Engineer and Technology (BUET) in cooperation of DAP fertilizer factory based engineers, the tank was repaired and reinstalled saving about Taka 150 crores of government fund, Abdur Rahim, acting managing director of DAP told BSS.

He said the factory deprived of Taka 2000 crores following the shut for three years. There are two production units in the factory having production capacity of 800 metric tons in each unit per day, he added. Ammonia and Phosphoric acid are used as raw materials of DAP Factory, he said.

The factory resumed its productions from Monday night after three months unprecedented repairing works by the BUET Engineering consultants and BCIC engineers, he said. Abdur Rahim said the resumption of productions in the factory is our big success of home engineer which saved re-installation cost amounting about Taka 150 crores.

It is mentionable that a Chinese Plant construction firm installed the factory in 2006 on south bank of river Karnaphuli at Rangadia village under Anowara upazila.
