A group of people who were laid off by different hotels in Cox's Bazar due to coronavirus pandemic demanded payment of their arrears and their jobs back.
They made the demand at a human chain organised by Human Rights Defenders Forum (HRDF) in front of Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner's Office at Shaheed Subhash-Farhad Chattar on Thursday.
Speakers on human chain said coronavirus epidemic has affected thousands of hotel-motel and guest house employees involved in the tourism industry in Cox's Bazar like the rest of the country. Many are living inhumane lives after losing their jobs.
Therefore, all these unemployed hotel-motel guest house employees are called to the workplace quickly and pay the arrears of their salaries and call upon the concerned authorities and administration to provide their identity cards and appointment letters, they said.
