A court in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday dismissed a case against 29 people, including former officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police Pradeep Kumar Das, over the killing of a man at Moheskhali in 2017.

Judge Abbas Uddin of Maheshkhali Senior Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order after hearing the case on Thursday.

The court also ordered the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of police to investigate another case filled earlier in connection with the killing.

On Wednesday, Hamida Akhter, the wife of late Abdus Sattar who died in an encounter on February 14, 2017, filed the case in the Maheshkhali Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court.

Some 29 people including four policemen including Pradeep were named in the case.

A prime suspect in retired army major Sinha Md Rashed Khan killing, Pradeep was the OC of Moheshkhali Police Station at the time of the 2017 incident.

Following the incident, victim’s wife filed a writ petition with the High Court. The apex court had then directed the Moheskhali police Station to register the case.

Ex-Teknaf OC Pradeep along with six other fellow policemen is now behind bars in the Sinha killing case.
