Corrupt Biman officials list sought

The parliamentary standing committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry on Sunday heavily came down Biman Bangladesh Airlines asking the concerned ministry to submit the list of corrupt official before it. They expressed grave concern over the incident of taking $45 from sick passengers for using wheelchair, which no other airlines do.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry AM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury recently went to Singapore for treatment, and due to his sickness he used a wheelchair at the airport, for which he had to count $45, which made him surprised. At the seventh meeting of the parliamentary standing committee held on Sunday, Moktadir presented this information before the committee.

At the meeting, the committee has alsosought the corrupted Biman Bangladesh Airline’s officials and agencies list who are engaged with Biman’s booked ticket cancellation trade. Besides, it also wants to know what measures (punishment) have been taken against the Biman officials that are involved in corruption.

Taking into account the needs of domestic and foreign tourists, the committee suggested to take necessary steps to make tourism more attractive and time-befitting. On the other hand, the committee also decided to visit the Cox’s Bazaar and Sylhet airport soon. The committee also discusses on various activities taken by Bangladesh Airlines and Bangladesh Tourism Corporation to celebrate the ‘Mujib Year’.

At the meeting, committee member State Minister for civil aviation Md Mahbub Ali, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, KaziFeroz Rashid, Tanvir Imam, AshekUllahRafiq, Anwar Hossain Khan,SyedaRubina Akhter and other officials concerned were present.
