A first-year student at Sur Samrat Ustad Alauddin Khan Degree College reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at 7 No. ward of Mirpur village under Shibpur Union in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified, as Naima Akter, 17, was a first-year student at Sur Samrat Ustad Alauddin Khan Degree College.
Family members said Naima committed suicide by hanging herself in her room around 4 am on Saturday. In-charge of Shibpur police outpost Bibekanda Devnath said being informed, police recovered the body from the spot.
The body was sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue. The reason behind the suicide could not be known yet, the official added.
