Coaching centres to remain shut during SSC exam

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Thursday said coaching centres will remain shut during the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations to ensure free and fair environment. She said this while talking to newsmen following a meeting with law and order related security committee at the education ministry yesterday.

“All the coaching centres will remain closed from January 25 to February 25 in order to conduct upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations in a fair, beautiful and free environment,” Dipu Moni said She also urged everyone not to pay heed to rumours and keep the environment free and fair. The examinations will begin on February 1 and continue till February 22. More than two million students are expected to take part in the SSC and equivalent examinations. The examinations will be held at 3,512 centres in 28,884 institutions.

“16,35,240 candidates will sit for SSC under nine general education boards; 2,81,254 for Dakhil exams under Madrasah Education Board and 1,31,285 for vocational exam under Bangladesh Technical Education Board this year,” Dipu Moni said. Some 342 students will take part in the examination from abroad, she added.
