The newly built Chattogram Medical University (CMU) observed the historic March 7 on Sunday in a befitting manner.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered the historic March 7speech in 1971.
The UNESCO recognised the
speech, which effectively declared the independence of Bangladesh, in the Memory of the World International Register, a list of world’s important documentary heritage.
Vice-chancellor of the University Prof Dr Ismail Khan hoisted the national flag in the morning and then placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
A discussion on the significance of the day was also arranged at the university auditorium.
BITID Director Prof MA Hasan, exam controller of the university Dr Delwar Hossain, director finance Masudur Rahman, acting registrar Dr Hasina Nasrin and deputy director planning and development Dr Bidduth Barua were also present, among others.
