‘Clean your homes, share it on FB’

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam has called on city dwellers to clean their homes as a social movement and share it on Facebook.

He said that everyone should routinely take the initiative to clean their household at 10 am every Saturday for at least 10 minutes in order to stay clear of disease- prone breeding grounds. The DNCC mayor said this while inspecting the overall situation of different areas of DNCC from Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan on Friday morning.

Atiqul Islam said that he himself will clean his house for 10 minutes today at 10 am and will also share it from his Facebook Verified Page (Atiqul Islam).

  He said that in the meantime, a request has been sent to the imams of all the mosques under Dhaka North City Corporation to discuss the importance and significance of the slogan ‘10 minutes every Saturday at 10 am, clean your houses’.   

Md Islam said that people should come forward to prevent aedes mosquitoes, dengue and chikungunya and keep their homes and surroundings clean and tidy.    

The DNCC mayor said that care should be taken to ensure that water does not accumulate in their homes for more than three days on flower tubs, unused tires, coconut shells, various types of open packets or pots, roofs etc.

 He said that in order to ensure that no one suffers from dengue and chikungunya during the pandemic, public awareness activities are being carried out in 54 wards of 10 regions of DNCC simultaneously for mosquito eradication from July 26 to August 7.      

Md Islam said that free dengue testing has been arranged in 44 urban health centers of DNCC for the welfare of the city dwellers.       

The mayor shared that ‘Sabar Dhaka’ mobile apps are available in the civic service, number 333 in the emergency service and hotline numbers 09602222333 and 09602222334 of the DNCC are active.       

He further said that in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, all of us have to abide by the health protocols and government guidelines.
