Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon on Monday said the circular bus service will be launched in old Dhaka on trial basis in the last week of this month, reports BSS.
He came up with the information at the steering committee meeting on Bus Route Rationalisation at the Nagar Bhaban in the capital. Khokon hoped that it would be possible to finalise the number of bus routes by March next. The mayor also hoped that the pilot project will be visible to the city dwellers within the stipulated two years for the project.
Additional Police Commissioner Mafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chairman Dr Md Kamrul Ahsan, mass transport expert Dr Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Dhaka Transport Co-ordination Authority (DTCA) Executive Director Khandoker Rakibur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation Osman Ali and DSCC Chief Executive Officer Shah Emdadul Haque attended the meeting.
