Chinese, Nepalese professors meet DU VC

During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest specially the possibilities of undertaking more joint collaborative academic and research programs on environment, climate change, agriculture, disaster and other issues among the University of Dhaka, the Institute of Geographical Sciences of China and Tribhuvan University of Nepal. Possibilities of signing MoUs and exchanging of teachers, students and researchers among these institutions were also discussed in the meeting.

Five professors including Jianzhong Yan, Yili Zhang of the Institute of Geographical Sciences, China and Prem Sagar Chapagain, Shobha Shreetha and Basanta Paudel of Tribhuvan University, Nepal meet Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Akhtaruzzaman on Tuesday at the latter’s office of the university.

Chairman of DU Geography and Environment Department Prof. Dr. M. Shahidul Islam and some other teachers of the same department were present on this occasion, reads a media release. During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest specially the possibilities of undertaking more joint collaborative academic and research programs on environment, climate change, agriculture, disaster and other issues among the University of Dhaka, the Institute of Geographical Sciences of China and Tribhuvan University of Nepal. Possibilities of signing MoUs and exchanging of teachers, students and researchers among these institutions were also discussed in the meeting.

DU VC Prof. Dr. Akhtaruzzaman said, “Dhaka University has many fruitful collaborative academic and research programs with different leading universities in China and Nepal. China is one of the largest development partners of Bangladesh,”

He emphasized on more fundamental research and studies on proper use of land and improvement of life and socio-economic conditions of common people of Bangladesh.    

DU VC thanked Chinese and Nepalese Professors for their visit to and keen interest in undertaking more joint collaborative academic and research programs with Dhaka University.
